Energy 50% of EU imports
In 2000, the EU exported goods worth 20 bn euro to Russia while it imported roughly 45 bn worth. Both flows have grown since 1995, although their evolution has been erratic. Seasonally adjusted industrial production decreased by 1.4% in the euro-zone in July 2001 compared to June 2001, Eurostat estimates today. UPM-Kymmene's subsidiary Schauman Wood Oy has signed several agreements with large Korean shipbuilding companies. According to the agreements, Schauman Wood will supply the companies with some 50,000 cubic metres of plywood for the gas tank supporting structures of 20 LNG (liquid natural gas) carriers.
